Disco Inferno…

Posted in Kitchen Appliances by Maria on March 20, 2009

At first glance you might think you are looking at the latest innovation in DJ mixing boards, but look again. This is literally the hottest technology innovation you will find all month. The Izona CookSurface (a.k.a. “Project Luna”) by Fisher & Paykel is a new and welcome direction in the art of boiling water. The stove top surface features never before seen ideas like retractable gas burners that disappear below the surface when not in use, making for easy clean up of the frameless black glass surface. Another practical innovation is their patented “Aero” burner technology that assures even heat distribution at never before seen low settings. I don’t know about you, but I like my food to burn really slow, so this helps. Interesting note, there are only three burners on this stove top. Fisher & Paykel’s research has shown that most of us only use a max of three burners at any one time. I like to call this feature the “Carpe Diem” design, because now you can never put anything on the back burner. Also, no more forearm burns reaching to the back burner to stir your stew. I Would Buy This Blender

Posted in Kitchen Appliances by Maria on March 20, 2009

I’m no Paula Deen or Betty Crocker but I do like to cook and on occasion that calls for a blender. The UMIX Cordless Blender may be the ticket since it combines advantages of handheld and tabletop blenders. Rechargeable cordless? Check. Powerful motor? Check. Programmable blend cycles? Check. Squishy silicon sack? Check, check, check. I love this feature. They even act as storage containers. Haven’t seen that on the market. Andrew Bezzinaumix

Cook It Up With Silver

Posted in Kitchen Appliances by Maria on March 20, 2009

Cooka takes away the theory that silver is only meant for cutlery and ornamental purposes. This unique tabletop electrical cooking device uses silver in its design quite generously. Banking on its thermal conductivity properties, the cooking plates use the metal effectively to heat up the utensils fast and cool down the unit even faster. The distinctive design of Cooka makes it resemble a table mat and quite like it, you can fold it up and stow it away, till the next cooking session. The silver plates are surrounded by tiny holes that constantly blow out a stream of hot air around the utensil, so that excess heat is not lost during cooking.  Also integrated to the plates is an electric coil for heating it. This entire setup is housed in a body of non-toxic LSR – Liquid Silicon Rubber. This is ideal because LSR can sustain itself in a range of temperatures (-60 °C to 280 °C).  Maurizio Maioranacooka_1cooka_2cooka_3

Toaster With Looks That Kill

Posted in Kitchen Appliances, Toasters by Maria on March 20, 2009

The Nahamer T450 is the first environmentally sustainable toaster. It is 20% faster and uses half the energy of a standard 900W toaster by having close-proximity low-temperature heating elements. If only one slice of bread it inserted then only one side of the toaster is turned on. It is also designed to be repaired if broken and disassembled at the end of its useful life. The window allows you to monitor the brownness of your toast and the Toast Drop system slides your toast straight onto a plate, ready to be eaten. It also features intuitive browning controls and turns on automatically when the front is closed. Rob Pennynahamer2nahamer3nahamer4

Teeny Tiny Dishwasher

Posted in Dishwashers, Kitchen Appliances by Maria on March 20, 2009

From the size of it I know most people will go, “Tch, tch that’s a really small dishwasher!” But sweets this one’s for the double-income-no-children types and singles. That’s how specific designing is getting these days, and me being from the old school of thought of big happy families is finding it hard to digest! The sleek looking Gota is small enough to fit on the kitchen platform and has an eco-sense as well. Its one of those niche things that couples will like to show off about. CWB Staff gota_2gota_5
