Modern tale

Doubling the size of this kitchen, part of a home renovation project in Dunwoody, created a space large enough for family entertaining. The original kitchen was situated in the area beyond the refrigerator, which now houses a pantry, appliances and a wine cooler. The kitchen island provides a food preparation and casual eating area, as well as a visual focal point for the room. Extra seating is available in the adjacent breakfast area. Thelen Design Build

Team players

English accent

The original kitchen, part of a 1940s Georgian-style home in Chicago, was small and unmodernized, and was not equipped to prepare kosher meals.Three distinct food preparation areas allow the family to cook within kosher guidelines. Beyond the kitchen is a breakfast table for up to 12 people, with storage drawers under the bench for Passover items. The kitchen was designed by David McNulty of McNulty Design Group. The architect on the project was Victor Lew of Jeremy Lew and Associates, and the builder was Robert Lew. Additional upper cabinetry was installed to provide storage space. Clear glass panels were specified for some of the upper cabinets, for added visual interest. DMc Nulty

Midas touch

This Clive Christian Regency-style kitchen features ornate gold-leaf detailing. Marble countertops feature on the perimeter cabinetry, while the island countertops are granite.

All appliances are made for optimum cooking and ease of use. This 15in grill has two powerful heating elements.
